<li><p>Biography: Shane is the Referee-in-Chief of the American Collegiate Hockey Association.  The ACHA is the governing body for non-varsity hockey at the collegiate level in the United States.</p>

Shane has been a USA Hockey official for over 10 years.  He has officiated in several National Championships for USA Hockey and has also worked as an on-ice official for the ECAC.  He currently serves as a director of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Officials Association, an officiating group affiliated with several ACHA Division I leagues in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the United States.</li>

        <![CDATA[<p>Here's a quick note for HockeyRefCast listeners.  The primary hard disk crashed yesterday on the server where the HockeyRefCast blog is hosted.  This resulted in the podcast blog and the podcast feed being temporarily unavailable.</p>

<p>Of course I was personally responsible for restoring all of the backups, so I spent much of the last 24 hours doing just that.  I'm exhausted.</p>

<p>I'm not as close to being done with producing this episode as I expected to be.  There's one segment that hasn't been recorded yet, and I have to finish some administrative paper work before I get back to the podcast.  So it looks like Episode 2 will be delayed until at least the first week of November.</p>

<strong>Update on December 4, 2008</strong>: Due to a couple of family emergencies that occurred in November, Episode 2 had to be delayed.  Yesterday I finished editing the feature interview with <strong>Shane Hanlon</strong> of the ACHA.  Episode 2 should be done and published on iTunes within the next few days.]]>

He officiates <a href="http://www.achahockey.org">ACHA Division I and II Hockey</a>, which is college club hockey in the United States, and in <a href="http://www.ecacsports.com/dIII_hockey/splash/index">ECAC West</a>, which is a college varsity hockey league at the Division III level.</p>

<p>Dave is an Internet application developer during the day.  He founded the website called <a href="http://www.rinkatlas.com/">RinkAtlas.com</a>, which is a site that provides door-to-door directions to over 2,000 rinks in the United States and Canada.  He also founded the website <a href="http://www.operationgadget.com/">OperationGadget.com</a>, which is a weblog about electronic gadgets and the technology used in sports.</p>

<p><strong>Ian Walsh</strong> grew up in Philadelphia, where he lives today.  He has been in the NHL since the 2000-2001 season and has worked over 275 regular season games.</p>

<p>Prior to joining the NHL staff, Ian worked in prestigious leagues such as the United States Hockey League, the ECHL, and the American Hockey League.  He officiated the ECHL finals in 1996 and the AHL conference finals in 2002.</p>
